Meet Silvia, the founder of Panambi

Updated: Aug 2

Ever since I was a child, I just loved the forest. I was born in a city in the French part of Switzerland, in Lausanne. When I was six years old we moved to the country side in the German part of Switzerland, at the edge of the agricultural zone.

There I spent hours and hours every weekend, with my dog, roaming through the forest and feeling safe and happy.

I spent many years of my business life as an entrepreneur and worked in the area of IT consulting and organizational development. I published several technical books on Internet protocols. This opened the doors to really interesting consulting gigs in large international organizations.

Some years ago I travelled to Lima in Peru to speak at an Internet conference. It was my first stay in Latin America and I immediately fell in love with it. Not just Peru, Latin America. And I decided that one day soon I wanted to come back and to take a lot of time to explore these countries and cultures. And as you may know, big dreams happen to manifest. So by today I have two homes, one in Switzerland where I was born and one in Paraguay. This is where life led me to.

Today I call myself very blessed to own rainforest in Paraguay and to be able to engage in the reforestation. Paraguay has lost about 80% of its rainforest in the last 50 years. Action is needed.

We are living in crazy times. I guess most of you would agree. In the face of all uncertainties, that can be very stressful. Connecting with nature and with the forest is one of the best remedies for me. And nature and the forest can be great masters in teaching us how to live more healthy societies and create more natural and life supporting organizations. If you like to know more about his, watch the video by Erwin Thoma in the "Resources" section.

Wandering through the forest makes me feel grounded and centered. It puts things into perspective and helps me to deal with crazy life and the speed of change.

When I walk through the forest, I feel happy, I feel like the trees were talking to me and embracing me.

And the rainforest has a very deep and strong energy, different from what I know from Swiss forests.

If you don't know that feeling, I invite you to come visit. Experience it for yourself. It is undescribable.
